The scriptures read are Exodus 31-33, Psalm 27, Matthew 28.
Exodus 31. God's already got the artist and his assistant picked out to make all the stuff in the last 6 chapters. God's Spirit gives them their talent.
With a few last words on the importance of the Sabbath, God gives Moses the tablets.
Exodus 32. Aaron proves to be an easily influenced priest. The people want an old-fashioned golden god and he makes it for them. God is ticked but Moses talks him out of destroying his people. Still, even Moses loses it when he sees the people dancing round the golden calf. Smash go the tablets. But they aren't the only casualties of this breech of faith.
Exodus 33. God is so angry he can't even be around the people. He will meet with Moses in the tabernacle. Moses makes a request: to see God. God makes a concession: he'll let Moses see his back!
Psalm 27. The writer has no fear of God, only trust. He does, like Moses, want to see God's face. Fascinating the way the readings reinforce one another in this plan.
Matthew 28. Easter day. Matthew gives a dynamic account.of the resurrection. I forgot about the women clinging to Jesus' feet, something we are told about in John as well. Interesting that even seeing Jesus, some doubt. It's very hard for people to change beliefs.
The great mission. Go and make students everywhere! Baptize them in the name of the Trinity. Don't be afraid! I'm with you always!
