The Bible Challenge: Day 33

The scriptures read are Exodus 34-36, Psalm 28, and Mark 1.

Exodus 34. Moses gets a re-do.He carves another set of tablets and God repeats the rules. Moses spends 40 days with God and doesn't eat, much like Jesus in his temptation in the wilderness. After talking to God, Moses' face glows and he has to wear a veil to keep from freaking out the Israelites.

Exodus 35 and 36. Like me, you may have been so caught up in the detailed description of the tabernacle and its furnishings that you forgot that they hadn't actually been made yet! So these chapters recap a lot of the earlier chapters and basically say, yup, it was all made as ordered.

Psalm 28. Ever pray and wonder if God is listening? Ever wonder when will he respond? That's what this psalm is about.

Mark 1. Mark is the shortest and earliest of the gospels. It moves fast. It's the gospel for this age of ADHD. No nativity, no genealogy. Bam! Here's John the Baptist. Wham! Here's Jesus being baptized! Zap! The Spirit drives Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan! Wild animals were all about! Bang! John is in prison and Jesus is starting his ministry! Mark's account is breathless and his favorite word is "immediately." If you have 2 hours to kill, you can read all of Mark with time to spare. By the end of Chapter 1, Jesus' fame is so widespread, he can barely walk in well-populated areas. Fasten your seatbelt; it's going to be quite a ride, reader!
