The scriptures read are Job 25-27, Psalm 4 and 2 Corinthians 13.
Job 25. Bildad's 3rd effort is rather short but to the point. God is vast, men are tiny and flawed. How can you assert that you are flawless?
Job 26. Job agrees that God is big and powerful. No surprises there.
Job 27. Zophar has nothing to say! So Job continues. All I'm saying is the truth, says Job. God has denied me justice. Yes, the wicked are going to face judgment. I'm not arguing that.
Psalm 4. A thoughtful acoustic version of this Psalm: here.
2 Corinthians 13. Paul says he's coming a third time and he hopes to see that the Corinthians have put their house (or house/church) in order. I love the way Peterson renders verse 10: "The authority the Master gave me is for putting people together, not taking them apart." Good thing to remember.
And this tumultuous letter ends with this wonderful benediction: "The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you."
