The scriptures read are Job 13-15, Psalm 150 and 2 Corinthians 9.
Job 13-14. Job wants to take his case to God. He's tired of the lies his "friends" are telling about him. More than that, he wonders how they can think they are defending God by lying about him. All Job wants is for God to end his suffering and answer his questions.
Job reflects on mortality. Even a chopped down tree might re-sprout limbs and grow again. But for humans dead is dead. Or will we live again?
Job 15. Eliphaz speaks again, insulting Job and telling him to respect the wisdom of his older friends. He vividly describes how sinners' lives turn out.
Psalm 150."Let all that breathes praise the Lord. Hallelujah!" We've gotten through the psalms--the first time. I've got some ideas on how to approach them the second time through.
2 Corinthians 9. It is out of gratitude for everything God has given us that we should give to others.
